Hi faithful supporters of Teresa!
I have just came back from the Jurong Central National Day Variety Show in which Teresa and the 3 Campus Superstar finalists had just performed a short while ago.
The following is the appearance sequence as well as the songs that all four of them had sung tonight:
Teresa - Lu and Love Love Love Renfrend - Da Cheng Xiao Ai and Zao Zi Ji Geraldine - Can't fight the moonlight and Hui You Na Me Yi Tian Zhiyang - Now that she's gone and Sha Sha De Shui
Analysis of their performances:
Being the first performer amongst the four, the audience did not completely warmed up to Teresa yet, but there were definitely audible cheers and applause for her even as early as her name was mentioned. Teresa was dressed in a biege top and white pants, which made her looked approachable without losing her Superstar aura onstage and her greetings to the audience was warm anf friendly .
Encouragement for Teresa was much better after she proved to everyone why she is still the best and most consistent singer in Campus Superstar, both on TV and during live performances.
Although Teresa didn't pronounciate one of the words in Love Love Love and she was a little over-smoked by the dry ice at the second song, but overall, I think she gained the most nods of approval from all the people watching her perform (I was paying careful attention to the audience's response to the performances by all four of the finalists). Her renditions of the two songs are wonderfully stable and captivated the attention of all those who had listened to her sing. Bet the 500-strong audience was impressed with her live singing, I definitely did. Rating: ****1/4
Renfred sounded a little strange with his heavily accented songs but he seemed very much at ease on stage and I believe his performance was quite stable and pleasing enough for the audience there. His choice of songs were impressive but he deliberately missed out the harder end portions, which was a little disappointing for me because I had hoped he had polished his singing even more. Overall, good attempt and entertainment value. Rating: ***3/4
Geraldine did quite well for her rendition of the English song and managed to move the audience quite well but her second song was much more bland and did not command that much audience attention. Was disappointed when she missed out the final few words of the second song because she reminded me of her flaw in forgetting lyrics, this time in front of a Minister. Rating: ***1/2
Zhiyang's selection of songs seemed a little weird to me because he chosed to sing relatively unknown songs and thus fared quite badly in getting the audience's attention. I believe he would have done better if he selected more familiar songs from his CSS competition but he did not and frankly speaking (no offense to Zhiyang and his fans), his performance tonight was the weakest among the four. Rating: ***
In any case, any event exposure and singing opportunity is good for the four of them because they will gain valuable experience and of course, recognition by the country's populace. I hope all four have benefitted from tonight's performance experience, be them ups or downs and learn to be better Campus Superstars for Singapore as their experience build up.
